Artefact

The physical artefact expresses my findings in a fun and interactive way. The concept of the artefact, "couch potato," portrays the decrement of physical activity during the past few years due to rapid urbanization in Asia.

Description

This artefact was inspired by the rapid urbanization in Asian countries resulting in a decrease in physical activity. The title "couch potato" is taken from the stereotype given to people suffering from obesity. The couch was purposely designed as a low sofa to exaggerate more on the concept. The pillows act as the 49 countries in Asia. The indicators are the pillows' color and size. The size determines the obesity prevalence in each country, and the color determines the changes in diabetes prevalence from 2010 to 2019. Both indicators were categorized based on the range decided. The pillows are not glued permanently to allow viewers' engagement to rearrange them.
